MSNBC has an article where they challenged 3 chefs to cook a weeks worth of meals for a family of 4 and only spend $68.88.
3 chefs did pretty good and there are a couple of tips that everyone can use in the article. The only grip I have is that they don't supply the recipes. Or if they did, I could not find them.
But one thing was clear, all of the chefs' bought unprocessed healthy food that can be used in multiple recipes. See how far you can stretch the meat, which is usually the most expensive item in any meal.
This does prove that you can eat healthy on a food stamp budget. See how many meals you can make with leftovers.

Here is a great website for recipe for $5.00 or less. I may have to make a few of these myself.
